all info on 18's and larger wheels, please post here.
i think, proportionately, 19's are perfect. THey truly bring out the tuner, canyon carving, precise fit look when done right.
20's.. um, too big

That's an awfully vague statement to make.
What weight? Offset? tire size? All these can wreak havoc on your "canyon carving" setup, as you referred to it (as well as a "precise fit", too)

I agree, even 18's are larger than I'd want.

u know... i dont even have a contour right now! lol, sold her a year ago, i am looking for a Csvt tho. anyway, i had 17's and those were too small. perfect for everyday driving, but i like get that tuner look, common with european cars, like bimmers n porsches. 19x8 fits, with 35 back spacing i believe. 205-35-19 maybe.
but yeah, 18's would be best blend of daily driver, tuner look.
its taste really. tuner wheels, are precise measured, fitted. fitting involves rolling fenders, probably adjustable coilovers and tucking it in. unlike the typical wheels u can buy and slap on and call it the day.

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2121391044does the link work? anyways, the green tour is mine, or was mine. i was probably the first to convert to svt bumpers n skirts when i got the car in 98, not that im proud of a fakey. it used to be $350 for each bumper and $250 a skirt, back then. i'm currently trying to get this red 98 tour, for $500. and ambitiously and seriously planning a rwd on it. i think the car is cheap enough that i could mess with it, etc. i think its totally doable. i just love how the CSVT looks, and rwd would just make it fun and praise worthy. take it easy on me...

Here's my info: way too heavy. The sidewall on 17" wheels is very slim already. If you go with 19", you're down to 3", and you're not going to see enough difference in response to make up for the loss of speed due to all that rotational mass under nearly all driving conditions.
Now if you think they look pimp - well I think that 17s fit the car better, but looks are all opinion.
EDIT: 16" is a great size too, especially if you're using a 24" O.D. (stock on early cars) package like me - but 16x7.5 is hard to find, and I think 225/45 on a 7.5 wheel is probably the best tire for grip in 16" or 17", at least of tires you can throw on without rubbing issues (usually). 15" for racing might be a good option if you can get some 225s on 15x7s like the Comp Lites, but I don't know what low-pro 225 tires you can find in 15", and you couldn't really use them for the street, plus you'd mess with your gearing. But maybe.
