My horn is dead, and I'm not sure why, or what fuse to check.

About a month ago I was washing the car, and I noticed afterwards that the horn was sounding really pathetic, not loud at all and wierd sounding. Since then it seems to have fixed itself, until today I noticed it doesn't work at all. Any help is appreciated.

Are you pushing hard enough? My horn actually gets stuck if I don't use it for a while. Also Have you check the wires? Maybe one is loose.

If you want to check the fuses, it is Fuse 12 and Relay 7 in the fuse box next to the battery.

You should also check if the horn terminal connections are dirty or rusted (as horns are usually located at the bottom). According to Haynes and Ford CD, the horn assemblies are located between the radiator and front wheel wells. I haven't had to locate them yet (but I had similar issues on a previous Chevy that I owned and the symptoms were the same as yours. I removed the wiring terminals, cleaned them out and it worked after that). Good luck.

Wow thanks for the fast replies everyone!

I do know where the horn is, and I'll check the connections. And I can check the fuses too, now that I know which ones to check.
As for pushing down, it could be stuck, but I was pushing hard, actually hitting it too after trying for a while

I hope you don't mean hitting the steering wheel where the airbag is also located.

Do you have cruise control installed? If so, does it work, still?

What about your radio? Normal operation?

Radio still works fine, and I don't have cruise. And I didn't think about the airbag, but I wasn't hitting hard really, just smack/pushing it. I probably shouldn't though.

Well.. I am out of town, so I can't effectively troubleshoot (fuses, wire colors, etc) but...

The horn path would be (simplified)

battery, through a fuse, through the clock spring, then the horn switch, down to the horn itself, then return to ground.

If no fuses are blown (again, I can't tell you which one(s) to check), then I would first check the horn itself and its connections. (because of the whole water/wierd sound symptoms)

Then I would check the clock spring.. it IS possible to fail on only one part, instead of HAVING to affect the radio/cruise.

Either way... check your connections at the horn itself. (near the foglight, on the drivers side)
