my friends 96' ford contour GL MTX is so slow and the throttle response is so bad. We had it checked at autozone and they said lean air and catalytic convertor clogged or something... What do we need to do to get the throttle response back and get good acceleration???

Yes, go to another Autozone (or Advance Auto) and have the codes read and then post the exact codes.
