Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums. I live in South Jersey, a short ride from Philly. I just got my first car, a 1999 Contour SVT. I was just stopping by to say hi, and hoping for some suggestions for my car? I already plan on removing the resonators and getting a B&M short shifter. Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Wilkommen !

You lucky bastage ... a '99 CSVT for your FIRST CAR !! Mine was a '62 MG Midget . I guess it's almost the same .

As for mods ... lower it . Get rid of the 4x4 look . Mine's sitting on H&R's & I love it . Other mods ... Hmmm ... just don't copy ME , LOL !! J/K . Mod it how YOU want to mod it , don't be deterred by the ney-sayers .

Enjoy your new ride !

Welcome!

What color is your SVT?

Here is some information from the Aesthetics froum:
aesthetics

Parts discounts, websites to obtain parts, etc. are listed in that link.

There is a GB (Group Buy section) on Fidanza short shifters. From what I have read they are supposed to be pretty good and the guy is giving the CEG a price break. $80. shipped!

Post some pictures!

Next time we have a get together, feel free to join us!!

Good luck with your new ride!

If you like rasp, get rid of the res. Otherwise keep it in there, or get it replaced with a different one. I purchased my svt out of jersery a little bit ago and the owner had the res cut out... it sounded like a honda when it was cold. I suggest that you save your money and get a real system... like the trubendz.

Sure don't want it sounding like a ricer, but i saw that it was recommended to take the resonators out somewhere. It's black on black with 112k miles. Not really in the best condition either, since I picked it up for $2400. And I was just wondering, what's the difference between a B&M shifter, and a Fidanza, or any other brand?

If you look around you will find that some brands are just chopped down shifters and some are actual short throws which change the geometry of the throw

You can do the res removal if you want, but i will rasp and drone on the highway. I couldn't talk in my car if I was driving on the highway it was that loud. Look into the dura preformance section and get some ideas there

Please show me a "short throw" shifter that's just a chopped down version of stock?

Jason, I8RICE has a chopped down one. By 'chopped down' i mean a shorter shaft, not a different throw geometry.

Here is some more information on the short throw: Fidanza Shifter

I wouldn't take the resonator out either. You could use a straight through glasspack or a magnaflow resonator (number 10435).

You can go to "my home" at the top of the page and send a PM to "Stazi". He sells exhaust components (brakes too) and can help you out. Or, go to www.trubendz.com.

Also, there are tons of "how-to's" on the main site that can help you take care of the maintenance issues yourself (DIY).
