Hello all. I am needing to replace my valve cover gasket. Just wondering if anyone could guide me through this procedure if there is anything special I should be aware of. Or is it just taking off plugs/wires, take off cover, remove old gasket, put on new one, put cover back on, put plugs/wires back. Is it as easy as the old school cork gaskets, but just the $40 rubber one? Thanks.

$40? My local stealership on wanted $19.xx for it, and I haven't got a chance to check with Bill J. or Steve to see their prices. You may want to consider replacing the spacers and o-rings if they're worn, but you won't know if you have to until you get in there. I'm just going to replace them anyway, cause spending $15 +/- ahead of time is better than waiting two days for special order parts to arrive when the car is out of commision.

go to advance or auto zoo and buy the Felpro set, it includes both valve cover gasket and the spark plug tube seals. Ford seals everthing seperate. And its straight forward.

Being a Zetec it's about a 10 minute job. Just look at it. When I had my Zetec I think I swiched valve covers in about 5 minutes. The gaskets are pretty straight forward also.

Just do it man, you'll be alright. Oh, and Autozone wanted about $40.00 for the gasket for my girls Focus, So looks like I'll be giving Bill another call myself....

Very easy to replace the seal. In your valve cover there are grooves running along the perimeter, where the seal sits in. simply pull it out and put the new one in. The removal and install of the seal in the cover will take about 10 seconds...(seriously) Have fun...

I thought it would be simple, just wanted to make sure before I got further along than my brain would allow. And yeah, it was auto loan (zoo) that the gasket was $40. Already got it.

Oh yeah, who is Bill? And why am I trying to kill.... sorry, wrong movie. I'm still kind of new to this site and getting to know the areas. I will spend time later. (I think I told myself that before)

Great guy to deal with and he's been helping the members here since I can remember. Very knowledgable with the Tours and Mystiques, since he's an owner also.

I just ordered a new valve cover gasket for my Zetec. The part is $10 through any ford online place. The Duratech gasket gets more expensive.
