I've heard of people using washers/shims to keep the timing belt from hitting the cover does anyone have any pics of this

Yeah, my timing belt would tap the cover lightly, so I put two kantlink washers, one on each screw, and put them between the cover and receiver. It no longer taps, and I don't have pictures.

was your belt hitting the middle metal cover or the lower cover, that is over the crank pulley
