ok... so my CAT is clogged... its going to cost 700 to fix... apparently it is the cause of my problems? the hoses or sensors attached to it broke free and sprayed hot exhaust all over my engine bay, causing my vaccume line to melt, causing my breaks not to work EEK! The mechanic said a new one costs 600 + 100 labor. i need some opinions on what to do! eek! i saw a high flow cat in the classifieds for 100 but i have a zetec and the cat is a 1 into 2 configuration... should i just buy that one and go dual exhaust (stock svt exhaust?)  or get the high flow 1 into 2 and re-route it into 1? im so confused my head hurts!

I had my main cat clog on me about a month ago and it melted one vacume line....it was only $300 to fix and that included a new aftermarket cat...NOT a ford one. Tell them you don't want a ford one and to look at aftermarket ones.

some pipe connected to it or something happened that caused the exhaust to leak like a gasket or something... the hot exhaust melted a hole in my vaccume line causing my breaks to be as hard as a rock

So what broke? EGR pipe? We need specifics to let ou know how bad you are getting hosed.

hes a family friend so i dont... think... hed rip us off... the car has been having misfires in 1 and 4, lots of sensor codes one for the egr like u said i dont know what that is tho
the egr code happened right before the breaks went out...

He has a Zetec. Family friend huh? Sounds like a friend no on needs. How come about 10% of the posts from newbie's on here state their mechanic is a family friend? All of them are still getting burned to.

ive been on this forum as long as you... just the past year has been a hard one and for some reason i cant log on to my other account Alibies which is much older... as for the newbie thing i resent that! todras i can remember when the  didnt exist!
