Shannonville this past weekend was a blast. This time I had no off track excursions..... well at least not in my car or while I was driving.....
I had an off-track with a stundent while he was driving. He caused a big cloud of dust and gravel to rise through the air. No harm ... no damage..

Thought I would share a few pics... including this one with a fellow CEGer in the car (Craig) while I went around a corner on three wheels.....(BTW... sorry for the image size!)

We need more Contours at these events!!!! You will get hooked once you come on out.

Hope to see more of you at the next event.

Fern

Fern, I'll throw up some of my pics from 2 years ago in the same corners later. You'll see how much flatter my car is through soem of those. It's just a matter of sorting out your ride height/koni adjustments.

Thanks Fern - what a great run around the track that was!! Team Contour was a small one (4 of us I think), but we had fun regardless. I'll be a repeat customer next provided I don't have any friends that decide to get married that weekend .

I'd add my favorate pic of the day - almost looks as though I was in a rush to get somehere .

BTW Fern - what brand of brake pads were you using - I have to get some of those for myself!

Forgot the most important part...

Thanks to Laura, Richard and crew for taking the time of of their day (and weeks and months) and putting this on!! I had an excellent time and met lots of great people.

Also, the day would not be complete without the instructors (Especially Fern and Brad from this forum), and the countless other ones! They take the time out of their day to help rookies and the novice drivers to master the art of performance driving. The information you learn from those who "speak the language of the track" is amazing. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed the event enough to host it again next year!

Craig I am using Porterfield R4 pads. They are VERY expensive (190$US for fronts!!!). My rotors are stock and so are my lines and I only use DOT3 fluid.
Craig if you are interested in trying out the pads for a reduced price I might be looking to sell them at the start of the season next year when I get a brake upgrade. I am looking for more stopping power so that I can brake even later than I did over the weekend. I also need a firmer pedal so that I can heel n toe. I am sure that you found the session I took you on quite fast but believe me I left a lot on the track due to the fact that my car is not really beefed up for the track.

Evan in all honesty I did not notice any body roll in the car. It surprised me what it looked like from the photos. The car felt very planted and poised on the track. I had the Konis set at almost full soft for the event and they felt good.
Here comes my light hearted jab at Evan.... I guess my car should lean more especially when I brake later and carry more speed Hey all in good fun. I still need to make more power as my engine is pretty close to stock and I have not done anything to stiffen the chassis (strut tower braces, sub frame connectors etc)

Aside from some temporary starter probs. the weekend went quite well and I have to say that I felt the best I have at a track event.
Many, many thanks to Laura and her merry crew for putting this event on.

Fern

Fern, you know I would have been right there with you if my motor swap had gone as planned back in May. Now you wanna talk about late braking I'll show you pics (pending me finding them) of my melted caliper piston boots after day one at Dunville last year. The thing that is proabably contributing to the additional roll is the use of you R-compund tires and the additional forces you can load them up with.

I'm also looking at turning over my R4 pads next year (approx 3/4 material left...damn they wear good!) as going through a set of caliper piston boots every event is getting a little old. We should talk to the guys at KVR to see if they can put together a package using a set of AP Racing calipers 13x1.0 rotors and perhaps offset rotor hats to avoid having to use wheel spacers to clear the calipers.

If KVR can't do that then it will be a set of TCE FSL with 13x1.0 rotors and a 6mm spacer for me. Not too sure if I will upgrade the rears too as I will have to revert back to stock if I don't buy a winter beater next year (I have a feeling the 3L is going to make winter drving much more interesting this year)

Thanks for the responses guys, We WILL be doing it again next year for sure and most likely will be at Shannonville again.

I am glad you enjoyed it. Last time we were at Shannonville we actually had quite a few contours so maybe we will again sometime soon.

Craig an FYI if you are looking at brakes, you may also want to look at KVR in Ottawa. They have a 4 piston caliper that they designed for the contour I believe plus other goodies too. They are also an SVTOA national sponsor as well as a Canadian company and are also a great group of people. The contact there is Terry Gosse. He was at the event in his Cobra.

Those are some great shots. The people doing the photographer there are really pretty good.

Hey Evan it's all good. I can't wait to see what your beast will do at the track. We should get you to an event south of the border as well so that you will not have to wait for the Toronto event.
I am pretty sure that I will be going with a TCE kit in teh spring. Winter driving is not an issue for me as the car is stored six months of the year.
