Well to me anyways...

Decided not to go with a classic truck because
1) This was only $1200 cash
2) I have already restored one 66' Mustang and my dad/brother also know a lot about them.

The original color was "Saturne Gold" and boy was it ugly. Looks like the previous owner had it painted a dark grey, but then just painted primer all over the car (even on the windows!!) and just left it. Its been sitting for 7 years in his driveway.

1966 Ford Mustang 65A type.
289 ci 2V w/ 3spd 280:1 gears.(Basically the base ford 289 coupe.)

Plus I got all of this stuff with the car:

New Stuff
New Quarter panels on Pass. side
New Floor Pans on Pass side.
New Driver side fender
MIT valve covers
New .30 over Pistons
New mild cam (26-?)
New molded carpet in box
New Hooker headers in box
New headliner in box
New door panels in box
New Battery tray FROM 1966.
New front bumper
New front gravel guard
New year valence
New chrome everything (door handles, bumperguards, etc)

Used Stuff
302 V8 block (needs a rebuild)
302 heads (needs a rebuild)
Rolling Engine stand
5 Speed Transmission from a 90's 5.0?? Dont really know but it came with the bellhousing and associated parts (will have to shorten the driveshaft if I want to use it)
Edlebrock aluminum intake
(3) Holley 4 bbl carb.

So as you can see I got a lot of stuff, actually all of the above is valued more than I paid for the car.

Bad things: When rolling off the trailer the clutch broke when I attempted to NOT roll down a hill. It stopped so good deal (no brakes because he cut the lines about 3 years ago on accident). Also we stripped the interior of everything about found BAD rust on the floor behind the drivers seat. But thats the only spot and we are just going to cut out and install a new floor pan.

So yall think I got a good deal?

Just drove around in the wife's 66 289 Auto last night. Such a fun car to drive... except on really windy highways!!!

All original miles on it, just rolled over to 45600 last night.

Is it a convertible? And wow, original miles!

I used to have a 66 Convertible 289. Those suck on highways. At 65 the top started to lift up off the latches and gave me horrible drag. Coupes and fastbacks are much better.

With all the free stuff I got with this, a 302 with a mild cam, aluminum high rise, holley 4bbl carb, aluminum pistons, and hooker headers should give me a nice base of horsepower. Any opinions on the R-Valence they make for these mustangs? I think they look good with a street apron and the stock bumper.

Not a 'vert, but Wimbeldon White with a black vynil hard top.

The only thing we've done was audio work. We pulled the interior apart, used molded kickpanels with Pioneer 6.25" and 3x5 Boston Acoustics in the package tray, tossed in a kenwood headunit that appears stock, and a 10-disc changer in the trunk.

Yes, one of the odd things I found in the trunk was the original AM/FM unit from 1966. I wonder if it works....
