What is the difference between an SVT engine with a build date after Aug. 1, 1997 vs. before? Was this the E0 to E1 - sounds like too early a date? Eric

2/9/98 was the beginning of the E1(195HP)production. I don't know when the 99's(200HP)began production. Mark

From what I found this date was about the time the changeover from EEC IV to EEC V (PCM'S) and the dual throttles were changed from vacuum operated (my car) to electricaly operated. This might only apply to the UK.

E0 and E1 engines the same 195HP, only suspension/tire/wheel/brake etc changes. 99s got 200 HP, sometime mid 1998 I think.

There might be something to this question... the first 50 SVT's were partially hand-built, and I wonder if any of that pertained to the engine.

The IMRC valves went from vacuum to electrical at that time, also. Has NOTHING to do with throttles. -Lance

Isn't that about when Ford went to "depowered" air bags? I know it has nothing to do with the engine, but I thought I'd throw a couple of pennies into this thread.
