I got new sub off ebay since I blew my old one....

question;

the sub is rockford fosgate P312D4, it's Dual 4ohm (i'm think)

I know how to wire it up to get 2ohm or 8ohm output.

What does this mean for my amp? I have JBL BP600.1.

So with 2ohm output & directly connnected to my amp, I will be pushing only 300 watts into it?

If this is the case, can I turn the gain up on the amp all the way?

You want it set up in 2 Ohm (parallel) on that amp and NO you cant turn the gain all the way up, that is not a volume control. It is designed to match the signal of your HU with the input of the amp.

K, i set up the sub for ohms, hooked it up to amp....everything is working.........but any help on what I should set the levels on the amp to?

I would like to clarify this because I blew my last subwoofer, and with my set-up I dont think I should have (its in sig).

New set-up:

Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD Headunit
JBL BP600.1 Amp
Rockford Fosgate P312D4 subwoofer (500 rms)

it should tell u in the amps install manual. a quick way is to turn the gain down all the way. turn the hu up 3/4 of the way. slowly turn the gain up til u start to hear distortion. when u do, turn the gain just back slightly. this method seems to be listed in all amp manuals

Your 600.1 will produce 600rms at 2ohm so if you configure your P3 in 2ohm its should be perfect if you let the gain not to high. if you but into 8ohm you amp will just produce 150rms

be careful with the gain cause RF P series subwoofer can be fragile sometime, im working in a car audio shop and we have a lot of problem with them.
