Went to the auction preview today during my lunch break...the 18k mile '99 Contour looks good except for the dashboard being warpped. Did some searching on hear and it sounds like a common problem. Will one of those carpet dash covers hold it down? This is a pure commuter car...dont really care about looks...just need to be able to see. Are there any other little things like this to look for? I am going to go back tomorrow to see just how bad the warpage is...auction is Friday. Hopefully the dash warp will scare away the bidders

Thanks for all ya'lls help!

Dash cover won't work, sorry.

Best bet is the dash warp fix kit from the dealer. Under $100.

The kit works, yes. But, there are few other methods that people have used to fix or "lesson" the severity of the warpage. The pain is actually getting to it to fix, adn really, the best way is to remove the dash and fix it this way (or, buy a dash from a 98 tour/CSVT with the non-warping dash problem). As techincal as it sounds, removing teh dash froma tour is not that difficult at all, PM Todras and get your hands on a Ford CD Rom, it will show you how to do EVERYTHING on the car.

Good luck on the auction!

I have always been interested in CNG/bi-fuel vehicles. The Contour wins over the Cav, hands down.

Besides, you're not going to find a kickass owners group like CEG for the Cavi!

...removing the dash for the first time takes about two hours or so...getting everything to go back in the way it was takes longer..way longer...

Hrmm...maybe I'll just cut off the warpped part and throw the dash cover on top.
