I was on my way out this past Saturday, travelling down a 1 lane gravel road (that they just put new gravel on). Low and behold another car appears and as we try to slow down and move over we find ourselves unable to due to the new gravel just letting us slide. We hit each other a bit which in turn pushed my car further over to the side and into the path of a tree (which is better than the alternative 5 foot drop into the river had the tree not been there). The other car barely suffered any damage, most will buff out. Mine on the other hand...

Damage estimate is $4,133

On the bright side, the shop that will be doing the work has said they would prep the entire car and throw on no paint across the board for an extra $650 or so out of pocket.

It was ruled a no-fault/unavoidable since it was on a private road. That and the state trooper quickly understood the situation when he tried to get by my car stuck against the tree and couldn't fit.

We are each having to make our own insurance claims, but my insurance is handling it. Assuming they don't try to call me and settle with me rather than fixing it.

Thats terrible to look at. But it also makes me wonder why a nice looking car like that was traveling down such a dirty road any way... When I have to go down dirt roads I go as slow as possible! For example, barely leaving first gear!

The same reason the car isn't lowered. This is a very rural area and there are a LOT of gravel roads. If I never left first for any of them I would run out of gas trying to get to the gas station.

I live on a dirt/gravel road.....it sucks! When it's not muddy, it's dusty! That is, unless it's frozen solid in the winter, then the main roads are nasty! Any ways, whenever the town puts new gravel down it feels like I'm driving on marbles. I always keep it under 20 mph, morrons pass me all the time and stir up dust and the occasional rock. I wish the town would hurry up in its plan to "pave every road in the next 10 years." I've heard that for 3 years now, so I'm 30% there!!!

#18 has been parked for a while to keep the mileage relatively low and needed to go for a jog to get the juices flowing.
