I have been having trouble with my electric cooling fans coming on, thought it was the relay, turns out a mechanic told me that there was a recall on the wiring harness for that car specifically relating to the electric cooling fans. I wanted it to run it past you guys to see if anyone can validate this or if he is blowing smoke. Any direction would be helpful. New coolant temp sensor, new engine temp sensor, fuse is good, and fan motor works with +/- connection. Thank you.

Call your dealer with the VIN. That is the best way to see if there is a recall on YOUR car.

There is a recall for some Contours for fan problems. I'm pretty sure that it is for earlier cars than yours. Essentually, they inspected the fans to see which vendor they came from, and based on that the fans may be replaced and/or in line fuses installed. The fuses are huge, looking sort of like an oversized connector. They went between the fan motor and the connector.
