Does anyone know the way Ford sets the computer on our cars.
This is what I have tried.

Disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.
Starting the car and letting idle until RPMs lower.
Driving the car at 30 MPH for about 5 minutes.
Driving the car at 60 MPH for 5 minutes.
Turning on and off the AC allowing the RPMs to rise and lower 2 times.
Letting the car idle for 5 minutes.
Turn the car off.

I have also tried this.

Pulling the #9 and #11 fuse in the under the hood fuse box.
Letting the car sit for 5 minutes.

My car still failed the Texas State Inspection test.
FORD charge $140.00 to reset the computer.
It now passed the Texas State Inspection test.

Fuse 4 and 11 under the hood. Owners' manual will have instructions on OBD II readiness.

www.fleet.ford.com
to download manual

To save the dealer charge on codes, go to Autozone or others to read it for free or buy a scanner from $50 up.

a) what does resetting the computer do with passing inspections?

b) disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery for 3-5 minutes should reset the computer. if you're still getting a CEL afterwards, it's cause you still have the problem (resetting it just makes it clear out, but the PCM will find the problem again pretty quick).

c) my code reader has a way to reset the CEL codes. you turn it off in the middle of it pulling codes, and it resets it. dunno if that helps you at all.

The computer Kept saying four different stations were not ready.
I drove it for three days like they told me to to get the "Not Ready" to read "Read" and it still did not work. I went throught all the steps I listed and it still did the same things.

FORD did what ever they did for $140.00 and it passed.

Just wondering what they did?

Your first readiness preparation, OBD II Drive cycle was wrong.

Your second readiness preparation, pulling Fuse 9 and OBD II Drive cycle were wrong.

The Ford dealer did the OBD II Drive Cycle correctly and then checked with his scanner for the 7 I/M monitors (the 4 out of 7 stations you were referring to) before returning to you.
