Well I got a response from Todd at Fisher Concepts. He said that if I can provide him with a stock damper, they might be able to produce one if I could find 5 or more people to buy it. Cost would probably be $300. There dampers are SFI approved for racing.

We could probably lower the price a bit more if we could probably get a bit more than just 5 buyers.

Go to http://www.fisherconcepts.com/ for more information on there product.

Plz let me know if anyone would be interested in purchasing.....

For all you UDP naysayers, here is your chance for an underdrive pulley w/harmonic balancer that is also lighter! All the benefits, none of the "disadvantages" of other designs!
Well, with so many people claiming that UDP's are going to ruin your engine, I would think that they would love the proven advantages of a UDP with no ill side effects? Line up..

interested. 300 dollars? is that crank only, or as a set of overdriven pulleys as well?

For a limited production custom damper. $300 is pretty cheap.

The SHOSHop simple aluminum Billet set (2 pulleys) is $200. So figure maybe $50 of it is the P/S pulley.

However what kind of durability testing will be done. I personally don't know how hard it is the reverse engineer the damping frequency off the stock damper is though? (and alter it for the lighter/smaller pulley) If they could get it and match theirs to it easily. Why hasn't someone else? (like March - as talked about last summer) Okay besides lack of consumers maybe wink

I'd be interested, but without some real proof of correct frequency damping specs I could just use the SHOShop crank pulley I have on my shelf with the same trust...

To answer the performance aspect.

Faster revving & a slight HP gain to the wheels. (more accurately less HP loss due to rotating mass - same effect as a lighter flywheel just other end of crank)

Let me inform my fellow CEG'ers that the Fisher damper is not a seperate peice, but a single integrated piece. The thing is they both work seperately and operate on a clutch/ brake design. So no matter what the unit weighs the pulley is actually running free from the damper. It's hard to explain but you folks could give the guys at Fisher a call or check on there website, especially there FAQ's section. Unlike factory dampers that only control harmonics at a specific range, the fisher damper will control it at any RPM. So in this case you get the benefits of a racing damper as well as almost completely freeing up rotational mass from the pulley. The benefits will be horsepower as well as increase engine longevity.

I would like to get as many people as I can to make it really interesting for Fisher, show them that we are a serious group.

I'll be contacting them shortly and probably will be sending out my stock pulley so they can see if they can produce one of there own. I'll keep you folks posted... smile

Let us know when you have some specs.

Like weight and under-drive percentage...

They look like an excellent company!

Well not to be negative, but if all they have is a pulley that you send them to go by, how can they evaluate all the effects on Duratec crank harmonics? I mean would they not need to know ALL the specifics on the crank and main bearings /girdle/rods - the reciprocating mass. And then test several prototypes on a running Duratec on a stand at different engine speeds for a lot of hours - measure frequences and such. I have been under this assumption - perhaps our resident experts could comment? Or is it really that simple to look at a stock damper and say - lets shape it like this and have it weigh this much and call it a day?
