I seem to have a problem that I cant seem to figure out. Hopefully you guys can help! My blower fan would only work on high ever since I owned my car. So I read that the resistor pack and the switch needed replaced. Well I replaced them both and I went to change my fuse for good measure and the fuse was baked into the fuse box. So I carefully took out the fuse and replaced it with another fuse and continued to check the blower fan. I turned the car on and turned on the fan and it worked very well for about 10 min. and the fuse again got really hot and melted into the fuse box again. Well I did some more research and was told to check the wiring harness going into the resistor pack. Well everything turned out to be fine. So I called my local ford dealership to see if there is any safety recalls open on my contour. They told me there is a recall for both the resistor pack and the fan switch but they werent open on my contour. This is really making me mad. What can I do? Whats Ford's number so I can call and tell them they suck and I will never buy another ford until they fix there problem? Please, someone help!!!!!

Thanks Guys!!

Is the fuse snug, or loose? It's possible the fuse socket is loose griping the fuse, which will make it hot. If the blower comes on normally, it's probably OK.

Well ever since it melted, its very hard to get a fuse in there. But as soon as I put a fuse lower than a 30, it blows it. So I taped a 30 fuse in there and it melts it.

The fuse is supposed to be 30 amps. Usually, for example, a 20 amp wouldn't blow. See how much current is being drawn, if you have an ammeter.

Do you think I should take the wires out of the fuse box and put a fuse in-between them? Just in case its not getting a good connection. I dont have a ampmeter either but hopefully a friend of mine brings his over this weekend. Do you know ford's 1800 number? Thanks for all your help!

Yes, you could put in an inline fuseholder, 30A, if you make good connections. It might work a while if you tighten the grip of the socket (if it can be done).
