My CSVT died tonight , a drunk driver in a Volvo hit it going about 40mph while my car was parked. I was in the bathroom gettin' ready for bed when I heard a tremendous crash and viola, it ripped off the right front of the Volvo and destroyed my rear axle and bumper along with somehow dislocating my dashboard. At least he couldn't run right? How much does it take for a CSVT to be totalled? I hate it, but I think I'm religated to the status of troll now... Police came later and the guy said, quote, "I'm so drunk--and I just f-ed up this kid's car." Cop: "Yea, looks like it, why don't you come with me."

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your ride man. Good thing you weren't in it though! My sister got rear-ended by some 16 year old doing like 45 a couple years ago. Totalled her car and screwed up her back (she still has problems, and probably will for life).

It's a sad loss, but cars can be replaced. Glad you're all right

Sorry to hear about your tragic loss. I'm glad I have a garage . A drunk rear ended my SVT once at low speed while I was driving. He stopped and got out then got back in his car and drove off. Luckily there was no damage.

Will insurance cover the value you think the svt is worth? Think you'll get another one?

I almost wish someone would hit mine, it would make up for the [censored] who sold it to me lying and the car rolling in miles not km's.

Hope everything works out. Take pictures, post.

I really hate to see these kinds of posts. It's just stupid when one of us has an accident (like I did in Dec/03) and it's our own fault. But when you get hit, it's so much worse. When the other guy is drunk, it's a crime. It's not like you can just run out and find another SVT. The only "bright side" is that you weren't in the car when the stupid SOB hit it.

Maybe now the moron that hit you will loose his license. Oh wait, probably not, bet he's got other DUI's. He'll probably have to kill someone first. People who drive drunk really tick me off. They deserve no mercy. And if any CEGer's out there have DUI's, sorry. I have no pity. I'm no better than anyone else, I just don't drive drunk.

And don't take any (censored) from his insurance company. If you've got any mods, rims, etc, don't let them screw you over. Which makes me think of something else, we should all have plenty of pictures of our cars in case of accidents, theft, fire, etc. The insurance company isn't just gonna take your word for it. Guess it depends on who you're with and what coverage you're paying for. Be prepared. I'll shut up now.

Thats sucks man. It's sad to hear another SVT bite the dust. They become more rare that way. That guy is stupid for driving drunk.

Where were you parked at when it happened?

I've always wondered, in a case like this, shouldn't the victim (even unhurt) be able to sue the DD with a civil suit and get damages beyond whatever the insurance company assesses? I'd be hitting him for a NEW-new set of wheels.

Civil cases are not uncommon in such cases. If you feel you have a loss greater than what the insurace company will settle for you have a case. Even then, if a sharp lawyer can establish previous DD from this guy, or if he can establish that he knew he shouldn't drive, or the place where he got the booze continued to serve him past a certain point, you can sue all sorts of people... A sleezy lawyer can do lots with this.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
