OP Rob2006 New CEG\'er R Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 18	I was wondering why when I put the car in drive why the doors don't lock. We have a 1998 Ford Contour SE 2.0L DOHC 102,400 Miles And people seem to think it should lock. I do know that when we bought it the air bags had deployed previously and the person could not afford to reload the airbags. Our cars aren't made to lock automatically when you put in in drive. With an aftermarket alarm system, it is possible to make the doors lock automatically after you turn on the car; if you have power door locks. When I had keyless entry put into the Taurus, part of the package was locking the doors when put into gear, and unlocking them when you turned off the car. Many cars do not come factory with these "luxury" features. And please don't compare this car to an early 90's GM. Next thing I know I'm going to hear about why the Contour doesn't glow red like a fighter jet cockpit on red alert. 2000 Contour SE
