Okay, well then I won't debate. I just wanted to leave you with this: In my area, where we have the costco, the cost of living is pretty high. You won't cut it on anything less then about 9 dollars an hour. I applaud costco for paying their people a decent wage that they may be able to live on. You seem to think that paying him 10$ will spoil him for the rest of his life. I got paid during highschool 15$ an hour to do computer work at a law firm. I really don't expect to be paid atleast 15$ an hour no matter what I do now, if anything it has made me hungrier for things that cost more. Those things make me work harder so I can get a better paying job so I can buy those things. But to each his own.

i see this argument all the time over at maxima.org. the owners manual 'recommends' premium, for best performance and mileage. but the car will run on regular and a lot of people don't care about performance so when the question is asked "what grade should i use" it always starts a flame war.

personally i'm of the persuasion that you get out what you put in. and if you have modded your engine or bumped up the timing like some folks do, you can see a fairly significant increase by using the reccomended grade.

i agree people are cheap on gas but most of those people are dumb and don't realize they can actually be spending more money by not using the recommended grade.

....don't be bitter pack, pissing on this man's cake cause yours has fewer candles is ridiculous. and you're not going to change my mind so don't even try.

I don't know why you'd not shop there just because they pay their people well? In my experience they have the lowest prices on stuff of the big retailers around here. That includes: Walmart, Sams Club, BJs wholesale and other places like biglots, kmart and the like. If anything, i'd want to frequent them more since they are helping people out and I am getting good prices while I am at it.

So then by that thought, I should STOP shopping at Wal-Mart because they are only paying you $8.00/hr. to stock a shelf? If everyone had that mentality, nobody would be shopping at Wal-Mart, which would mean YOU would be out of a job.

Also, are you going to stop watching basketball because the players on the bench make $200k+ to do nothing, while you are slaving for your $20k a year? You seem to argue about EVERYTHING, yet nothing you say makes sense.

That's awesome! I do the same thing, but I found my Zetec runs a just a bit better on midgrade and premium than it does on regular. Haven't bought any regular since. I could give a flip if it's like $3 a gallon if it improves my performance any. When one has a smaller, less potent engine like the Zetec, the thirst for any gain in performance is much greater. I make 6.50 an hour in a Chicken Restaurant and I could give a hoot about 10 more cents to the gallon.

This is not a discussion about my employer so that's the end of that. See mod comments above.

I don't watch basketball on TV to begin with. Feel like putting your foot in you mouth some more? Didn't think so.

It's already been mentioned that high-powered cars are generally capable of safely utilizing Regular gas, and even often get better mileage using it, at the expensive of performance.

But as for older cars, like a 1991 Camry, one would use Premium to prevent against pinging, which a 15-year old car is probably doing.
