Does anyone have this package on their car or know if it would be a good purchase?
They claim a 20 HP improvement at the wheels which would not be a bad deal. Or can $670.00 bucks buy something better?

Call SHO Shop and they'll mail you a "catalogue" - two page listing of all available mods for Duratech. Can also get photocopy of MM&FF artricle on 3.0 project car. FYI, Stage 1 includes: 8mm Ford Racing plug wires 6 double platinum spark plugs K&N air filter HiFlow y-pipe HiFlow resonator UD pulley set Can get off-road or w/cat y-pipe and aluminized or SS. Each set is $51 less than purchased seperate. FWIW, I'd scan my catalogue, but there are lots of notes I wrote on it and some things crossed out, so it would look pretty ugly. Also, I don't think SHO Shop has internet at their shop. My 3.0 is shipping tomorrow and they said they'd call with tracking number instead of email.

Oh.. Cool.. Then to answer the first question, you're not going to get 20hp from those mods, so I'd spend the money elsewhere.. $600 will buy you a set of MSDS headers with y-pipe, and that will give you somewhere in the 15-20hp vicinity.
Jason, I'm in South Jersey, used to work in Conshohocken.. Where are you getting the 3.0L installed at, or are you doing it yourself? I'd kill to take it for a spin when you get it running, to see if I want to get one. No one on the east coast has done this yet, so I sort of dismissed the thought awhile back.
Also, since you have the catalog, what are your thoughts about their 37mm butterfly manifold and matched intake manifold? I've always been curious about this, but don't think ANYONE has bought it yet.

00svt - I agree with Cartman, use your money for the headers. I think the 17 hp claim might be a little "fluffed" (that's a LOT of power to squeeze out of the SVT Duratech), and I'm not a big fan of UDP (high duty cycle on battery, only a good idea for a vehicle that is almost exclusivly used for racing and not around town driving). I now apologize for hijacking your thread from here on out. Cartman, I respect your authorita, just don't kill my parents and feed them to me in chili! I'm getting the 3.0 done at a local mom & pop garage west of Norristown (out by Trooper? I think). Shop is typical hole in the wall, but their mechanic is a friend of a friend and he used to work at an exotics shop, you know Ferrari's and the like. Total gearhead in high school. I figure a simple little Ford V-6 should be no problem. I was checking out the shop and he was in the middle of rebuilding a Mopar soccer-mobile engine. He got that thing from a pile of engine on the shop floor to running in a single shift. He's estimating 3 days start to finish with all the mods listed in my sig (currently bone stock). He kept saying over and over that the Mopar was BORING and how fired up he was to be doing some real performance work for a change. Now that's what I like, a motivated mechanic! As far as the butterfly and intake, they are going to cost you almost 6 bills (maybe a little more w/shipping), plus $300 core (minus your shipping) for the old intake AND $300 for the old secondary. IMHO, unless you've done everything you can for air in & exhaust out, you are probably not exploiting the constraint of the system. The $600 would be better put to use for the more common mods: exhaust, TB, K&N/KKM, etc. Or consider yourself $600 closer to the 3.0, then buy the intake set. (BTW, shipping for 3.0 is costing me $200 hired freight + $50 extra charge for lift equipped truck). I didn't get them only because I ran out of $$$, but I wish I had to get more air into that new block. Where'd you work in The Hock? Ever put some down in the Boathouse? Mmmmm, chicken wings! Don't hate me for my paranoia, but after spending all this cash, it is going to be a LONG time before anyone besides me drives the 3.0. I'd be perfectly happy to give you a ride in it sometime. Once it is up & running I'm going to try to get out to a S Jersey or PA meet and show off Email me at pidgeon@corecomm.net if you want to know more so we don't totally take over this thread (like I haven't done that already )

Hey man, I understand your paranoia.. A ride will probably suffice, and who knows, I might be able to persuade you I used to eat lunch at the Boathouse, worked down the street next to the firehouse, my company was working a contract with Cambridge Technology Partners.. Wasn't a bad gig except for the traffic, now I'm flying all the time to see my clients, so it sucks and my car never gets driven. BTW, tell me that chili sh!t wasn't screwed up?

Jason, does SHO Shop list stage II, II, etc. packages? I'm glad they are doing this but unfortuanately I guess the UDP will be in all of them. And I wish they would market the baffels for our oilpans!

I guess buying their 3L makes me the resident expert . Glad I can be of help. Flyer states that "We are working on POWER Stage II and POWER Stage III, please stay TUNED." I asked about the oil pan baffle when ordering my short block. It is listed in the brochure at $129, but I was told that they are still tweaking/engineering the kit. I asked to be called the very second they start selling those. Was told that as long as you can handle removing the oil pan, it is REAL easy to do. It is going to use exisiting threaded holes in the pan, so no drilling req'd. I'll be sure to raise a flag once I hear about it/put my order in. They are also working on 33mm/28mm SS intake/exhaust valves, 2.5" cat back, chip/software upgrade, cold air intake sys, and 5-6 psi supercharger. I wonder if they plan on putting that on their 3L??? Cartman, the chili thing left me with my jaw on the floor. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to find it funny or not. Traffic in the Hock has only gotten worse (bridge traffic all the way up to 4th Ave today), the Boathouse has expanded the dining room into next door unit, and the former owners of Diva's in Bristol, PA bought Seventh Heaven. All the Conshie news that's fit to print.

Jason, just curious what SHO Shop is shipping with the short block - new water pump or do you use the one from your existing engine? Starter motor? Alternator? Oil pan? timing cover? Just curious about how much of your original engine will be left intact. Is Sho Shop still charging 1.5k for the prepped short block? Thanks Eric
