I need new rack seals --> a new steering rack. I've had quotes of around $700, even thought I've found the part with lifetime warranty for $120. I'm in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was wondering if anyone knows where to cheaper labor, specifically which shop.

But, I have a friend who has a hoist I may be able to do. Anyone think this is a doable job. I have the Ford service manual, looks alright. Air tools would be a big help, I don't think I'll be able to get those.

If anyone has done this before or wants to give me a hand, please let me know. I provide the beer and brots

IIRC somebody loosened their rack to get at an engine mount or sup'm. Didn't seem too difficult. Perform a search for more info on it. If you have a Haynes manual, that has always been a pretty good gauge of how difficult a job will be.

- Ordered the ford service manual from todras off classifieds, probably pick up a haynes as well.

My friends dad will probably let me use his hoist, which should cut the job time down significantly.
