I need new rack seals --> a new power steering rack. I'm in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I've had quotes for about $700. I'm looking to find some cheaper labor.

But, I have a friend who has a hoist I may be able to use. I'm just wondering how hard of a job this is. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, done breaks, alternator, little body work, and rebuilt a motorcycle engine.

I have the Ford service manual, looks like a doable job.

Give it a shot if you think you can handle it, there's a place out near me, great guys, they'd be able to do it but i'm not sure what they'd charge. It's in brighton.

I'm gonna try it. My friends dad has a hoist I may be able to use, if not found the thread where a guy used jack stands. Found the rack here for $120

I won't know for sure until I install it, but i'm not leaking power steering fluid from reservoir, pump. Its not dripping anywhere. My bellows are full of fluid.

From talking to many mechanics and ceg'ers, I'm 99% sure its the rack seals on the ps rack. Thats how I know.

If you're not dripping anywhere and you're bellows are full, I'd say you need a new rack. I bought mine from autozone, $108.99.
