Please post a part # when you get it. Sounds like I had the same problem and Ford told me they could only get the cable. That was a sob! I'll sell it next time before I go through that again. I will go buy one to put in the glovebox. Thanks!!

i will post part number when i get home. sorry havent been on here in a couple days. and yeah the first ford dealer told me the same thing and sent me to another dealer to get the cable, and they came out with the cable clamp that i needed, nice to spend $10 instead of $80 for the cable assembly.

sorry i didnt get the part number up last nite, here it is:

F7RZ-7412-AA (big bushing)

XS8Z-7412-GA (small bushing)--this is for sale is someone needs it

7412 is the part number on the display of the shift cables on thier system Ford will click that and bring up the two part #'s.

My 98 CSVT did the same 2 months ago, except it stuck in 2nd (shifter would move to first position, but tranny stayed in 2nd). The end of the shift cable came loose/broke. A good mechanic at the gas station I go to a lot fixed it with a jerry-rigged nylon bushing for $5 plus about $20 labor. It's held up fine so far. 231,000 miles now on the whole rig!
