Ok there was a recent post about what car to get. And I am now at that same point. We are considering refincancing the house, and would be able to pull about 30k out. While we havent decided if we are going to do it, or what we will do with the money, one idea is to buy two cars (1 for the wife and 1 for me) pay cash for them and save on car payments. Now I love my tour, and probably will keep that and do the serious work that I cant do while its a daily driver. What other cars out there (preferably 04+) would be the best to get for around 15k? THe wifey will probably get a sedan of somekind, perhaps a pontiac Vibe we were looking at. But I want something sporty, 5 speed, about the same HP or more than the tour. Was thinking about the SRT-4, but cant really think of any other cars out there. I dont want a mustang, any ideas? Would prefer 4 doors with 2 kids but might be able to swing with 2. What about mazdas new cars? like the mazda 6. Maybe the corolla s? what do you guys think.

SRT 4, Mazda 6, 02 Audi A4 1.8t, A low mileage SVT  , CPO Volvo s60 or s40, 00-03 Nissan Maxima, 02 Nissan Altima, Mazdaspeed Protege, 5 door Focus SVT... can't really think of anything else.

You're not going to find any of the mentioned cars in 04 and above for $15k.

Toyota Matrix is a far superior looking vehicle IMO. They share the same chassis and engine. Pricing can't be that much different to make you buy a Vibe.

I was thinkign the same thing as far as that list. Was looking at the corolla XRS, runs about 16-17k. 1.8L 4cyl pushing 170HP

I know, but he said preferably an 04+, just giving him some choices at some decent cars that are relatively new and in his price range. Finding a 04+ car for under 15k will net u an econobox....

yeah I guess your right, maybe just get a newer contour and beef up my old one.
