Read my 1400+ posts, talking about the troubles and solutions with my 95's. It seems that every trouble imaginable has shown up on my cars.

You might consider running a CARFAX, they aren't always 100%, but it could give you some good info. I had a '95 and never had a problem during the four years I owned it. This is a ZETEC, 4 popper correct? If so take a look at the maint. forums, lots of good information inside.

My mom didnt have any troubles with 95 GL Zetec MTX. And has since sold her GL for the SVT but over all I would check the maintence these cars will give you everything they have aslong as you take good care of them.

My sister has a 96 zetec ATX with about 90k on it, and she's never had a problem with it ( other than window motors). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the earlier contours seem to have less problem areas than the later ones (98+) so you should be good.

If it is a V6 Duratec, waterpump causes overheating, not too costly to fix, as long as overheating was noticed by the owner, and not driven much. Air conditioning tends to leak, climate fan loses all but high speed, problems are fixable.

If you are looking for a reliable car, don't get a Contour - I bought 2 of them. I wish my wife kept her Honda Civic..

True, a Toyota or Honda would be more reliable, although all cars need fixing afer a while!

and you probably won't get it at $2,000.
