Hi, I cant seem to find anything on how to drain and flush the radiator. The car is a 96, 2.0, 52k, is there a 'prefered' brand of coolant to use?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to CEG. Try searches for great info.

I use Prestone.

For "how to", go to "how tos" in the FAQ, mod, how to

The drain is on the lower right side of the radiator behind a part of the frame. It's plastic with a screw head on it so be nice to it. There are little keepers on it that prevent it from coming out all the way. It may be easier to remove the lower radiator hose to drain it.
I've been running the orange Dex-cool since my water pump cratered over 6 years ago. Make sure you flush out all the old coolant.

Yeah, in my opinion it is easier to remove the lower hose.

I agee, remove the lower hose. I put a new clamp on. On the V6 it is easier to unscrew the drain.

Ive got the 4 cyl and seemed alot easier to just take the drain plug/screw all the way out. Everything is so dang cramed in there.
What the heck was ford thinking???
Man just reading through the various problems in this forum kinda freaks me out. Sounds like these cars had tons of issues!
Thanx for the help though, it went pretty smoothly.. Why was the crap in the radiator bottle brown??

I didn't know that the plug had the stoppers when I drained mine, and it was ridiculous until I finally figured out how to get it all the way out.

I was shooting coolant all over everything, not in a stream at all, it was more sprinkler type accuracy. Once I got the plug out it wasn't too bad though.

And about the tank being brown, mine was pretty dirty too, seemed to be a sort of dirt/slime who knows what. It's kinda hard to clean the coolant tank though, it has too many inner compartments.

I tell you what man....if this thing has oil in it with only 52k on it I am going to have the worlds biggest flower box in my yard!!! After I blow it up!
That or I'll just drain all the fluids out and stand on the accelerator!
Again, just by the things that I have read, sounds like I'm lucky to have 52k on it. Sheeeesh.
