The car has been running for about a week and Ive put on 100 easy miles on so far. Everything seems to be running ok but i threw a code this weekend and had it checked this morning. P0301 Detected misfire on #1 cyl. The engine doesnt seem to be bogging' and feels ok. I pulled the #1 (on the left in both pictures) and also the #4 just for comparaison. They are both brand new NGK's Platinum. I am running a full 3L swap with SVT cams, UIM & LIM and mystery modded. The most likely culprit i would think are the plug wires. From what I've searched is seems the guys who are throwing the missfire codes have very noticeable bogging. Would mine have missfired for a bit and then run properly again? The code has since been cleared and I drove it straight home and pulled those plugs.

They look perfect. Might have been a hiccup.

I sure hope so... I'll put some more miles on tonight as see if it throws a code again. Has anybody else had a Hickup like this before?

When it is bad the CEL will flash.

But if it throws codes again you may have an intermittent connection isssue. The only solution to try from there is new wires.

Not so fast. Look at the plug on the left. There is noticeably more black carbon on the left plug than on the right the electrodes are clean but the rest of the plug is not. It is in both picture so I don't think it is the light. If the left side is the #1 plug then it could be that you have unburnt fuel due to the misfire and therefore a little fouling, or that you got the misfire due to the fouling.
It doesn't look like enough to cause a misfire so I would choose the former choice.

I would leave it. If it is going bad it will do it again, especially if its a wire.

Oh yea there denifetly is more carbon built up around the ring on CYL #1. But it dosent' look too bad. New plug wires are in the mail. I just hope they aren't some crazy colour like yellow or some crap. I will put them on and see what happens..

Installed new plug wires and things seem to be running alot smoother. Before they were insalled it had problems mantaining a constant Idle, it is much smoother now. 250 miles and no CEL. I think that diid the trick.
