I need to replace all 4 struts on my 98 Zetec Mystique. There is a set available that came from a 96 Contour V6 (complete with springs). Would these fit? I know they are different part number, but are they physically different, or just spec is not the same. What would you recommend for replacement, and should I replace any associated parts since I am pulling them off?
Thanks!

I don't think they'll work, i'm pretty sure that there were differences between the pre-98 vs. post 98 struts and mounts, someone else will chime in.

Sure, you can run them as long as you match the springs to the struts. Only problem might be that your front end might jack up a bit. V6 springs were just a tad stiffer than on the Zetec cars.
Also, aftermarket springs for the early type struts are a bit more scarce. IIRC, Eibach stopped making them, for instance.
Function before fashion.

I would go new myself. A kit from BAT, or aftermarket OEM from a local store. Might as well get new top bushings (bushing between strut top and body of car) seeing your in there already. Do it all at once, so you don't have to pull it apart again.
As far as your question, most likely not worth doing, like stated you'll jack your front end up and get some really ugly fender gap (yuck)plus I'm guessing they r used.
