My 95 sun damaged hood is finally getting a paint job and i was going to put a hood scoop on it, one of those ebay ones, but i would mold, paint and make it funtional. Just wondering who else did something like this. I tried searching the forums about similar projects and the effects of rain and the placement of where such an intake should be located. Is rain a big problem on an open air hood scoop right over the engine block? If it is, is there anything i can put that will filter the water from getting in?

Any experienced input would be appreciated.

This is the one...

that scoop isnt my cup of tea, but anyways, the cosworth vents have been used on a couple peoples rides here. Perhaps someone will post pics of stazi's car.

When hood scoops were functional from the factory in the late 60's, there was always engineering to seal off water intrusion. Even the newer Mach 1 Mustang that reused the old "shaker" hood did so. There are two parts to consider. First, is keeping water out the the intake system. Second is keeping excess water out of the engine bay.

I don't think it will be a simple fabrication to add something in afterward. I would start by studying some of those old cars if you can find a way.
