Though I may have sold the SVT(s) for a ZX3, I will still be Duratec powered and the ceg is my home so I will continue to stay and post here for those who want to listen. My 3.0 ZX3 is still in the building process but I decided to get some performance figure ideas. By using David Z's 3.0L dyno plots I calculated the drivetrain loss and started plugging away at Car Test. The weight of the ZX3 is 2550 lbs, although it will easily be ~2350 lbs when I am finished with it. Here are the parameters: disp: 3000cc ?? hp: 281 @ 6500 tq: 254 @ 5000 comp: 11:1 redline: 6900 launch: 1200 rpm clutch dump Then I added in the Contour SVT gears and the ZX3 dimensions. Here are the results: 0-60 in 4.9 sec 0-100 in 10.6 sec 1/4 mile in 12.9 @ 111.9!!! He he! Wouldnt that be nice!! I guess we will just have to wait and see!

WOW! Wouldn't that be sweet! Does the 3.0 fit in there? I haven't been following this idea at all, maybe it's time to sell and 3.0 a little tiny car like that. Can someone help me out with the word I'm looking for? It rhymes with reeper Good luck!
STD's are like Pokemon... Gotta catch em' all!

Awesome! I'm sure you'll include all the goodies such as MSDS headers, massive clutch, quife, FAT tires for supurb grip, etc etc. Right? What are you planning on doing to make the car weigh 2350lbs? Is this going to be a drag car or street legal? IIRC, you're the guy who had lots of kill stories w/ his SVT, right? This is going to be an awesome car.

This is going to be an awesome car. Many goodies are in the works, depends on how impatient I get and just drop it in. The car is 2550 curb weight, thats a full tank of gas as well. Low on gas, no spare, no jack, stripped out from the front seats back, 16 lb Corbeau racing buckets, no stereo or speakers (apexi super afc in its place) headers will be much lighter than the exhaust manifolds as well, in all i total around 2350, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Also, Im VERY flyweight myself!! LOL No drag machine here, this will be my ONLY and EVERYDAY driver so I wont go to far in the hopes of speed. I just dont ever use anything but the front seats and Im not into the stereo thing. No show car either, anyone who knows me knows this car will see plenty of track time, and dyno time. Yeah i had a few kill stories with the SVT Maybe i can bring a few more..LOL. For Littlefishie: the 3.0 fits with as much trouble as the 2.5, which has been done about 4 times.

Bill, What cams are you going to be using? If they're made by IP Tech will they be selling them? If so, what are the specs? I want!

Way to go! Sounds like an awesome ride. I once thought of a ZX3 as the ride I would get when I got rid of the 'tour..but I love my 'tour too much....who knows though...cant wait to hear about the finished product....

One slight problem with your 1/4 times... TRACTION!!!! As in non-existent with a 2600lb car and that much power... Keeps us updated on the cams tho!!! Oh yes... And about the weight? Interior gutting and what else??? Also the V6 adds some significant weight over the stock ZX3 numbers you are using for baseline...

Also the V6 adds some significant weight over the stock ZX3 numbers you are using for baseline...Your right, hooking up will be very hard, although on very light weight cars (~2300 lbs), they can get moving to the 60 ft pretty quickly. My friends neon, putting down 220 at the wheels can cut a 1.9 on street tires. We shall see... Ahh, the weight question again, here goes: Stock zx3: 2550 lbs (with full tank of gas)- 66 lbs for (-)11 gallons of gas = 2484 - 50 lbs for spare and jack = 2434 - 35 for front seats on back stripping = 2409 - 80 lbs for front seat = 2329 + 32 lbs for corbeau seats = 2361 - 20 lbs for radio and speakers = 2341 - 50 lbs for hood = 2991 + 15 lbs for cf hood = 2306 + 70 extra lbs from zetec to duratec = 2376 - 35 lbs from manifolds to headers = 2341Ok so roughly 2341, a little better than previously thought Think I saw an add in SS for some plastic windows too!!!
