I would be very intrested. I may not buy tommorow but would in the near future. I have a 00 model car with a seven year bumper to bumper warranty so cam swaps , well you get the idea. But I am still very intrested. I would like to know just like the others how much? Would valve springs and retainers be possible? Would they be required? I understood the SVE cams are 270 degree and the stock SVT cams are 250. I would think something in the middle at about 262 or 264! I wouldnt want something to radical! For the others, if they fit a SVT they will fit a duratec, you will also be able to pick up SVT cams as well if these are madde. Cam swaps on a vectra same 2.5l same layout as ours or close to and they netted a 28hp at the wheels gain. Maybe no where near what we can get but lets hope!

Sorry not to answer the question. They will be re-grinds. I'm still working on the details for the cam gears.
Ok, now my plans with these cams are to get the most hp out of the new grinds while maintaining drivability.

Question (newbie type). Do you have to pull the heads to replace the cams or can it be done heads in place? Basically how hard to change cams?

I'll take a set if you can make a reasonable balance between h.p. and torque gains with respect to cost. I'm not into spending a lot of money for only about 10-15 h.p.

Dont need to pull heads but I prefer to do a cam change as part of a top end/head job. With cams that have higher lift/extended duration always need to check the valve to piston clearence with lead or dental wax.A touch condition at high revs is death to the motor. If we have the 'new' numbers for lift/duration/overlap etc it will help.Have to say that the only 'upgrade ' to reprofiling the stoc cams could be increased lift by grinding the base circle of the cams, timing would stay the same,to be able to 'juggle' the events need a vernier gear to replace the stoc gear whick is a part of the cam.Schrick were doing some work on this but it seems to have died off.

Hey Shawn,
Are you going to engineer your regrinds to maximize output with the stock SVT head and intake or are you going to base them on ported units and maybe larger tb/maf combo, etc?
Just wondered b/c if you engineered them for anything other than stock flow rates, then guys w/o poked out heads and intake may not make the best gains from your grinds? Any specifics about what you are planning to modify and what reccommended supporting mods should be to maximize gains from your regrind would be helpful.
Thanks Shawn

If you grind the base circle size you start exerting more force on the edge of the tappet which rapidly wears the tappet bore in the head. By the time you have ground enough to make a worthwile improvement the head will only last 20k before the noises get louder and then there is a BANG! The only correct way of doing the cam swap idea was what shcrick developed for the GM/OPEL 2.5 V6, four billet ground cams from new blanks plus four vernier pullys. In short $1600 bucks just for the sticks, most dealers were unable to do a cam swop for much less than $2000 because of other "bits" you had to buy. So few sales, our motor is a similar design so the idea was shelfed. unless someone knows different. sorry to dissapoint you all!
