The list of options for more power that I see at this site seems endless. All I'm interested in is some more power, and I don't really care what I use to get it. A 1998.5 SVT is advertised as 195hp at the crank. What kind of money (before I even get into which parts), realistically, would I be looking at to get up to say 195hp at the wheels?

A 3L swap outright would give you a good 200HP at the wheels.

You'd need every bolt-on made to get a NA 2.5L to make 195-200HP at the wheels. With the last one being a custom dyno tuned chip.

a S/C SVT would give you around 260+ HP at the wheels. Depending on other mods of course

what's the difference in weight after completing the 3L swap? And after everything's done is it really that much cheaper than an S/C (I won't be doing any work myself; installing the B&M is pretty much the limit of my ability)

SHOShop has the swap listed at $1500 short block and $1750 labor. Since you will not be doing it yourself it probably won't get any cheaper...

A S/C alone is that much. (maybe more now?) Plus install labor. Don't remember time involved but I'd guess $800-1000...

You'd really want a LSD with either mod. Another $1k with 3L swap. $1500+ with S/C (since they'd have to R&R the tranny)

The old saying goes. Speed costs... How fast do you want to go...

Weight difference would be neglible. Blocks are almost identical in size plus all aluminum (so size difference wouldn't weigh much)
