Anyone here driving southbound on Erin Mills Pkwy in a silver E1? Looked fairly stock but nice.....
Tomorrow will be putting the stock suspension back on... I had planned on putting on the GC coilovers but when they took the first strut off (Koni yellow) they noticed that the strut was "soft".

This may help explain why i noticed extra tire rub going over bumps lately. I guess that is also why my car looks so low for the most part. Anyway I searched and found my receipt and I will be contacting Koni for a warranty replacement. That should be as much fun as a root canal. I was surprised by how long I have had the Koni / Eibach set up on the car ....4 Years!?!!
Running at the SVTOA event at Shannonville on the stock suspension will be verrrry different for me. I have only ever run once on a track with that setup.....
Also here is something very strange that I noticed on the car. I was noticing that when I applied the brakes I would only get bite after about a second. This would happen about 70% of the time. So i jacked up the car and started looking around and noticed something. The nut that is attached at the end of the axle (you can see when you remove a wheel...dead centre of the hub / brake disc) had backed out to the point of only being on about two or three threads. When i checked the torque specs for this nut it is 208 lb / ft!!!! How the hell can this nut back out to the point where it is about two threads from coming off completely? Anyway I bought a huge 32 mm socket and torqued it to the specified specs. I will be checking this regularly now. When this nut gets loose it takes a lot more pedal travel before your brakes will bite because the whole wheel / hub assembly will wobble. For those that witnessed my spectacular spin out at Shannonville through the mud will remember that this nut failed after the spin and caused the wheel bearings and axle to fail ending my weekend early.
I guess I need to be even more vigilant with maintenance items now that the car is just under 6 years old. I usually do not keep a car this long.
Wow this must be my longest post ever!!!
