I thought Ford replaced the Zetec in all the newer cars with the 2.3L aluminum four cylinder. Then yesterday I turned on The Price Is Right and they gave away a Focus with a 2.0 liter engine. Is the Zetec back?
I haven't kept up lately.
. . . Two zetec Contours, two blown head gaskets... for some reason I have a Japanese car now.
anybody in California want a Diehard Gold 100 month battery? inquire by PM.

in retrospec yes it is the zetec block... but its not an iron block anymore, its aluminum... Which was previously stated, and now its called a duratec. Based off of Zetec designs though.. awesome engine.

Yes, awesome engine, too bad they didn't do this with our Zetecs.

No, it's not the same block.
It's the aluminum Mazda 2.0 and 2.3 engine now. Totally different, now called Duratec as well.
My bro's got an 2005 Focus. 136 hp not bad, still a bit gravelly sounding, but peppy enough and more efficient than the old Zetec.

it still looks like a damn zetec to me, regardless of the name or that it happens to be all aluminum now. I'd like to see one busted open so I could have a go...
