Well,
I am a new svtc guy. So I thought I'd check out this site. I have retired from SHO's for now and love my new (to me anyway) SF 99.

Point of the post:
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but since I am new, I am claiming ignorance.
I have been looking at wheels and I am wondering if the 18x8 RS Focus wheels will fit without needing any alterations/adjusting in the wheel well area.
And if so, what width tire would be the max? 215 or 225/40/18.

Thanks in advance.

The Focus wheels are the same bolt pattern, and the offset should be okay as well. Regarding tires, I would go 225/40/18 as it would bead on the 8" rim allot better than a 215mm one, thus giving you the bigger footprint. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I guess I could have stated my question better by mentioning my concern with the width of the wheels and whether there would be some rubbing. But, it sounds like that should not be an issue.
I also don't want them sticking outside of the wells, that shouldn't be an issue at all should it?

Thanks, Mike

The only way you'll rub is if you go 19". You need to go to a coil over setup if you go that big. You'll be fine with 18"'s.

i'd consider even trying 235/40 for that 8" wide wheel. whats the stock size tire on that wheel? if its 225 stick to that.

My 19's fit on a regular strut.

Hmm good to know. Thought it was common that you couldn't fit taht big of a wheel in there. Maybe it was a wide 19".

Now you're talkin. Wheel width and offset determine a large percentage of fitment probabilities. My 20's are 20x7.5 with +38mm and I just test fitted them on Sam's T-Red SVT yesterday. He is running BAT struts and there is about 1" of remaining clearance to the spring perch. I was impressed!

Hey Mike! Should be no problem with fitment. There's actually a set of 18x8 Focus RS wheels in the classifieds for a REALLY good price, adn tehy are brand new. Thought about picking them up myself.. but I like mroe spokes. Hope you enjoy the ride, I'm sure you'll like it just as much as the SHO.

I'm running 19x7.5 with 225/35/19 tire and no rubbing at all.
