Hey -

I'm trying to figure out if my engine has a overhead cam or not. How can I figure this out? I have a 1995 Contour SE.

Thanks

The duratec v6 is DOHC (that's: Dual OverHead Cam)

The Zetec 4 cylinder engine is also a dual overhead cam, so all Contours are DOHC.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Not only is it an overhead cam but it also retains the coveted title of "quad-cam". I envy you. Well, maybe I just want your car.

It's a good thing Ford didn't put that hideous Split-Port I4 in the Contour/Mystique. The Focus still got stiffed into production with that POS.

You can have it. I think it has a cracked cylinder block and my friend was telling me if it wasn't overhead cam, I could probably fix it myself but being it is hallow dual overhead, I think the car may be headed to the junkyard. I'm quoted $1000 + block from any garage. I'm bummed.

Get a 3.0L block and make it worth it.

If it's a Duratec V6 it might be worth fixing it if you like the car, and it's not beat up otherwise. Or someone might want to buy it as a project. Like here: vehicles wanted
http://www.contour.org/classifieds/classifieds.php?t=2&c=2 Which would be better than junking it. What happened to the engine? Did it overheat?
