Okay, so it probably wasn't warped. I've had the typical problems of vibration and shimmying when I put my foot on the brake. On one occasion I had the rotors turned, and that solved the problem for a while. On another occasion I bought new rotors, and that solved the problem for a while. On both occasions, the vibration would return after a few thousand miles.

Based on the distinct possibility that the rotors weren't warped, but were only bedded improperly, yesterday I ran the car to 60 mph, and came to an abrupt stop (well, almost stopped). Then I quickly accelerated to 60, and stood on the brakes again. I did this 6-8 times, until I could smell the brakes. My idea was that I needed to re-bed the brake pads. It seemed to work. Right now, when I step on the brakes, it is as smooth as it was when I had new rotors.

Now if it will only last.

Usually when a rotor is warped it will keep warping, even if you turn them as the metal morphology in the rotor is already headed into that "direction".

My guess is you had pad residue and/or other build-up on the rotors that wasn't even. You just smoked it all off.

Scuff the pads with some 80 grit in a figure 8 pattern.

Sand the rotor surface with some 120 grit. Using a DA will help but hand sanding will work.

Re bed the pads in a sane manner.

How so? My cheap rotors (the last set I had) lasted over a year and were not warped. Stopped pretty good at high speeds.

My supposed BAD cross-drilled Powerstop rotors lasted me over 2.5 years and were STILL not warped even with my crazy driving. A lot of high speed stopping and city stop and go driving.

And make sure all the lugs are torqued equally.
