Hi, Sorry this is not a Contour or Mystique question...just thought I would ask for a friend of mine. My friend has an older 1988 Blazer he bought for his son...he has transmission fluid leaking out the vent tube on this 4X4 Blazer. It only leaks when driving it after you come to a stop a small puddle of fluid about the size of your hand is on the ground. He tells me that he has traced it to leaking out of the vent?? Can anyone tell me what would cause the fliud to leak out the vent?? It shifts fine and never leaks just idling the truck, only when you drive it...Thanks and I will pass any info onto the guy.

Is it leaking out of the Tranny or out of the Front axle vent. If it's the front axle vent I may be able to help you. (I worked on some of those at AAM).

The most common causes of fluid leaking out of the vent from either a diff or an auto trans are often the same.

Old fluid foaming. Change fluid.

Overfilled. Reduce fluid level to the correct level.

Overheating. This one can be a bit tougher, but in the case of an auto trans it could be that it is overloaded (too big of a trailer of something similar).

Start by checking the fluid level and condition.
