So pretty much ever sence I did a 3l swap I have always had a CEL on, mind you i did the sway like 3 years ago. I jsut never really cared to much about it because the codes were mainly for the downstream o2's not being hooked up. Well it was inspection time today and sence NYS is so lovely they hook you up to a computer now to check for codes etc. So I kinda had no choice but to take car of everything.
Read the codes to see what was actually wrong and 5 codes came up, 4 for the downstream sensors as expected and one for no switching on an upstream. So I order up an o2 and install it ripping my arms and fingers apart and to my suprize the code is still there. Then I start to think about it it was the bank 2 sensor and for some odd reason I thought that bank two was the rear. so long story short I changed the wrong sensor and proceeded to swap the front one, install some eliminaters and walla no more codes.
I'm going out for a cruize tonight to see if I can feel any difference in the power now sence there is no light and a working upsream in there now. It just seems strang now seeing the CEL on anymore haha.

Great that you finally fixed it, but talk about procrastination.

haha yea I know, im kinda excited for myself. The reason I wasn't didn't really care is becasue it was the down stream sensors, If I knew the upstream went bad they would have been fixed right away.

I'm right behind you, 2 years!! Even when I replaced the downstream O2's and yes, I have MIL's, I still have the CEL. The codes were for downstream O2's..

Damn after the first 3 weeks I would have just turned the CEL off in the code. (j/k - I still have mine set to 1)
That's, umm, just, umm, great you fixed the 3 year old problem. Heck if you were strapped for cash you just could have spent $5 at radio shack and made MIL eliminators for the downstream O2's.
You folks do know that any CEL, even a soft code, will curtain timing advance and run the engine a bit richer. (a hard code is much worse of course)

Damn. I'm guilty, too. I've read codes, replaced the ailing sensor, had the car to a pro, to no avail. Same code comes back. Finally kind of gave up.
I think I just need to go to Autozone and replace all the sensors.
Demon, are you saying that even if I trick it, the rich condition goes away?

I actually tried twice to make those things and to no aval they never worked for me. Guess I JUST SUCK at electronics. I had many other tings wrong with the car that I had slowly fixed over time, just the downstream o2's where the last on my list. Also remember that I was kidna in the first batch of people to do a 3L so I think I had more problems than others because of things still being new.
Maybe I can make 13's NA now, got some new tires on and everything, might just have to give it a shot
