This is a question for my friend, who owns a 1999 cougar. Traveling from Florida to Indiana. Yesterday the fuel pump went bad and I guess it was a recall so the dealership did it for free, except the new fuel filter. Lucky the dealership was only 3 miles away from where the car started acting up ( in Atlanta). Anyways after getting it fixed she was driving for about 30 minutes and noticed the speedometer was not going past 60, even though she was going faster then 60. But when she slowed the car down the speedometer dropped, but very slowly. Then would only get to 60 again and stick there.
Any ideas? Is this the VSS? No other problems. Could the mechanic at the dealership have done something wrong or bumped the VSS?
Any advice is great, and sooner is better since she is driving a long way and is on the road again this morning in Tennesee.
Thanks.
