Maybe Canadian cops have more time on their hands, but I've only heard of 2 instances where the cops actually visited someone on a traffic complaint (they know there is nothing they can do about them).

Generally they don't, but apparently I have over a hundred complaints against my (old) licence plate. LOL
Another time I went down the cop-shop after being told I had been reported by a buddy of mine (buddy told me, didn't report me), and enquired. I had an interesting chat then with a nice lady officer, explaining my car had been sitting at the local garage for three weeks while I waited for a replacement BAT strut ... she actually told me, well inferred, that I should drive the full 50km/h limit in 1st gear to annoy people.

**edit**

Guys, guys, guys ... as far as revenge goes, being a Brit I already know that a good, solid half-brick is my best friend
Got to be sneaky and creative though, as I want to come out of this innocent and smelling of roses

I didn't think it was that expensive to begin with.

You weren't supposed to jump on that, it was supposed to be an easy target for powdercoat...

That reminds me of another story. I had a protective services officer show up at my place one early winter morning a couple years ago. Someone had reported a woman slapping a kid in a black Contour in the Jenison area (sub of GR basically). I'm like yea I own one but I don't have a GF let alone one with a kid. I said you're welcome to look at my car. I don't know if they randomly checked black 96 Contours in the area or not. Was so strange. I wasn't even that area at the time they said I was. Didn't even drive through there in months even maybe a year.

I don't know how your laws are, but here in MI it doesn't matter how fast your neighbor says you were driving down the street, the police can't ticket you unless they catch you speeding.

I once walked out to a police cruiser blocking me in after my shift. I asked the officer politely if there was an issue.. I had colored license plate covers on too, so I felt extra nervous. I admittedly pointed them out and asked "Is it these, sir?" and all he said was "Oh, no buddy don't worry about it. There's a guy in the city with a similar car who just ran from a drug bust." He saw I was leaving work with my uniform on so he left. It definately got me going though!

That's one reason I've always hated these "neighborhood watches" and the like. It seems like they give all the old ladies a license to snoop on their neighbors. I have a old lady neighbor like that. She would tell me all about whose car was in my driveway, when my lights were on, etc. Drove me up the wall, so I built an 8' wood privacy fence and strategically planted some trees and tall bushes. Some years ago, I got a company car (unmarked) and it had an out-of-county tag on it. Nosey neighbor noticed the strange car in my driveway every night, but failed to note that it was always me driving it.....she proceeded to announce throughout the "old ladies netword" that I had a live-in girlfriend. Like it was supposed to be scandalous or something (maybe to their generation).

Sounds like this goofy neighbor does not value her credibility. She's training the cops to disregard her BS complaints.
