I'm officially going to have to claim trollyhood. My transmission in my Mystique is going bye bye. Had the dealer and a transmission shop look at it. Bad news. $1700 form the shop or $2600 from the dealer. I'm not paying either. I mean, great car, but I can't invest in a new transmission. So now I'm going car shopping. I am looking into a 2000 Ford Mustang for $7500 OBO. (Mazda 6's aren't cheap enough yet). So basically saying I won't be an avid contique owner unless someone can find me an SVT close to Rapid City, SD. You guys have been a wonderful crowd... hope I can stick around.

I'll misss you guys

Steve

PS: If anyone wants a 98 Mystique just under 100,000 miles with no tranny (motor and everything still good) lemme know

Stick around and troll it up, there's a lot of 'em here anyway, and you can post the 'Stang's time's in the 1/4 mile and show my completely stock non-SVT Duratech up.

What is the trans problem? I have a Mystique like yours with 80,000 miles, auto trans. My dad's old Sable lost reverse sometimes, and it was just the transmission range switch, and bumping in and out of overdrive was fixed with new trans fluid flush. I hope mine lasts. 1700 isn't a bad deal for a replaced trans, it is a lot of work to change it. Although maybe someone would buy the car to fix...

Actually we will be passing through Rapid City SD this Friday. We will be driving my 2000 SVT contour, not for sale however. Any recommendations on the best way to see Mount Rushmore?

Why spend $7500 on a new car just because your current car broke and it'll cost less to fix it?

Christ,I paid $600 after trade in for my '95 Contour and I've spent like just over $3000 in repairs. Everything was fixed for about a month (I only bought it in May) and now my passenger side CV joint is just beginning to click.

Just put a new tranny in it. It's cheaper than a new car. I bought a used transmission for $450 and had it installed for $500. Go find one from a wreckers and find someone who will install it that ISN'T a dealer.

Hey guys... sorry been away a while. First, Mount Rushmore is hard to get to on July 4th. If thats what your looking for then plan to stay all day because it is hectic to get there. They have entertainment all day, so don't worry about being bored. Second, the car is at almost 100,000 miles, the car is worth 1800... why spend the 1700 (was quoted 2600 from the stealership)? So I figure get a car that will most likely last me until the end of college. Yes another mystique gone.

The deal went through today for the most part, gotta get the money transfered. 2000 Silver Ford Mustang with 55,XXX miles for $6300 Insurance will go up a lil bit... ok a lil more than a little bit, but its ok (I love my parents ).

Also, if anyone wants a custom box for the contour, actually a mystique, for $200... they can have it. We are trying to get $1000 for the car. So if anyone is interested... lemme know.

I will be hanging around just because I like you guys... haha. I'll ask the more general questions over here... haha.

Talk to you later,

Steve

PS: Anyone know any good Mustang Forums? I'll start my search.

if you lived in PA I'd be giving you 200 for it tomorrow! Its a shell of a car! Would this not be a perfect project for a 3.0 swap? even though you'd be putting the tranny in, you still need the motor out to put a tranny in. so why not! haha
