Around me they use both, and the use their brine solution for ice, cars get pretty messed up in winter around my house.

thanks, i'm lookin for an SVT contour, and since i live in NY i'm tryin to see where around here would have near-saltless cars...

PA tends to use cinders on concrete since salt degrades it over time. Cinders are also much cheaper, but do not melt ice.
