Just out of curiousity, is Techron no longer the name? I've now noticed Pro-guard by Chevron, but not Techron. Are these the same thing?

I use BP or Sunoco, usually the cheapest gas around here is Sunoco. I used to put those 2 kinds in my old car too. I remember when I first got my license almost 4 years ago, gas was not even $1.10 a gallon (for the low grade). Now it's $2.10+. Here is a website my parents told me about where you can find out gas prices in different places.

Yeah I can remember about 4 years ago when the cheapest gas in my area was 87 cents for a gallon of 87 octane at Amoco (now BP). Now I'm paying an average of $2.30 a gallon for the 93 octane...
Anyway, I only want the best for my car and I'm fairly anal about it, so paying an additional 30 cents on average per tank for the Chevron premium fuel is worth it to me, and I think I'm going to go with that from now on after having read up some on the effects of certain additives and the like.

Thats hard to avoid in WI the [censored] is widespread. I luckly moved out of the ethanol counties. But its becoming more widespread and being accepted.

I think, but I'm not sure, that Pro Guard is a watered down version of Techron. Last time I looked, the Pro Guard bottle said "with Techron".

Pro guard is the name of the fuel additive that chevron makes, it cleans you fuel system and contains techron to protect it. You can buy it at your local auto parts store. It costs like $7.00 a bottle out here in CA. I always use Chevron. I've noticed i get at least 30 miles more out of a tank. Anyone else wonder if that whole "top tier gas" is just BS? I was thining about it and its hard to verify. I mean all Chevron, Exxon and the others have to do is say hey big three we'll give you money to endorse our gas. OK OK before I get flamed I just read that and I'm only saying hypothetically the big three for instance. After all they're all hurting pretty bad for cash right now.

I doubt that's the case, since the car manufacturers are basing the top tier gasoline largely on government emissions standards. And Exxon isn't even on the list
Besides, if you personally have noticed getting 30 more miles per tank on Chevron gas compared to other brands, then that's evidence in itself that the top tier list is not BS.
