I have the same problem. When I am backing and turning the wheel to the right, I get a grinding sound from the right front end. The wheel is not even to the stop when this happens. I don't hear anything when backing and turning the wheel to the left. And this started when I had the RF wheel bearing replaced a couple of months ago.

I would look (in YOUR CASE) at another failed bearing. The axle nut is ONE TIME USE only. this will cause bearing failure.

Also, tighten to 208-214FOOT/lbs, this will cause failures is not tight enough

Sorry to bump this (It's a testament to my use of the search button!)

I am having this problem, but it sounds like it is coming out of the right side of the car, and mostly when turning to the left. And, it is rather loud (it freaked out this one woman walking several feet in front of my car as I was parking it in a tight spot). I first thought I hit the curb. It was rather loud.

I checked it today. The CV boots are fine, and the fluid level is fine. The belt is in good condition. The problem emerged yesterday afternoon, rather suddenly. I even avoided driving it to class (an hour-long commute).

If it means anything, there is a slight "moan" when I have the steering wheel to the stop.

And the clunk is felt throughout the car. The steering wheel gets kinda hard to turn, then it releases (CLUNK!-CLUNK!-CLUNK!).

Hey, there was a football game yesterday...

Check for a broken spring on the right side. When they go, they tend to do bad things. If you didn't have the recall performed, they can even puncture the tire.

Sounds like a strut mount bearing failure to me. If you look at your front springs while someone else turns the wheel, you'll likely see you springs jump when turning the wheel. The sound you hear is the springs releasing the tension they build up when the bearing won't turn.

As a matter of fact, I do feel the car kinda shudder a little, as if movement on one wheel was stopped then released suddenly. I'll check the springs.

Just curious, but how long do the strut mount bearings last?

I replace mine about 1.5 years ago, but I'm having alot of suspension problems lately.

I ordered LCAs with ball joints, inner tie rods, outer tie rods, front sway bar end links, rear sway bar bushings with end links, rear control arm bushings, and wheel bearings.

Should I get anything else?

P.S. I already have poly front sway bar bushings.
