Hi everyone. I'd like to thank all of the poeple I have talked to in the past few days for their insight and suggestions. I have decided to make a few mods to my car to improve handling and efficiency, and a few extra HP as well. Here's a list of what I have planned for my 99 Contour SE:
1. K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit 2. BAT 21mm sway bar, end links and bushings 3. Upgrade to 16" rims, keeping the stock 15's for my winter tires 4. Exhaust upgrade (still debating)
I intend to use the car as a daily driver, not planning on taking it to any tracks or any form of competitive driving.
Are there any other mods that you suggest I do? Any additional info are most certainly welcome.
Thanks in advance. This place rocks!!!!!

1. K&N and MAF adaptor 2. Skip it for now and save for springs/struts 3. Go with 17s 4. Do it - TruBendz seems to be the most popular
Other: Detail the car - top to bottom, inside and out. Check Aesthetics forum for tips/what to do.

Could always buy my BBS's?! They are 17's with tires and look good on your color car. (PM ME if interested PLease so that Pete doesn't ream me!)
And Petey boy is right, save for springs and struts... with the factory suspension, I doubt you will benefit any having the bat sway bar.

Waste of money - get K&N and a BAT MAF adapter

Pointless until you do springs and shocks

Go to 17's at least or you'll regret it later. The price difference is next to nothing

No debate - doing the intake and leaving the exhaust is pointless. why inhale if you can't exhale?

wouldn't the 17's and lower profile tires make the ride a bit harsher than the 16's?

I would do the exhaust and struts/springs first.
Exhaust not only helps power, helps mileage, but also sounds nice too ... this really gets you the bug!
Struts/springs, just taking a guess here, but if you haven't already replaced them, I bet you're not far off needing them. Guessing from average mileage on a 1999.
Do these two first, and you'll enjoy driving her so much you'll start planning to mortgage your house for the rest (I did, but wifey spend the money ).
You'll probably want to throw on a filter too, as it's an easy mod, and relatively in-expensive.
**Edit**
Don't forget to change the trans-fluid if you're an MTX75.

Uh, no. Actually, the larger the tire/rim combo, the better the ride, so to speak. However, rim size doesn't really do anything for that category, it's all about your struts, etc. If you are planing on doing anysuspension work at all... 16" rims look crappy, 17 or even 18" is th eway to go.... once again, see my sig.

Mmmm.....
The lower the profile, the less "smushy" ride you will have. There is less sidewall to absorb bumps and such, so you will feel more of the road.
17s is not bad at all though if that's what you are concerned about. Just pair it up with the BAT kit and you'll be good to go.

Well, I dind't say lower profile... you can have th ebiggest rims in the world and it doesn't matter...it's about how much sidewall you have. A 225/35/17 will give you a better ride than a 215/25/17. And at the same time, a 225/35/17 will give you a better ride than a 225/35/16 becuase there is more rubber to meet the road at one time.
