Hi there all,
Newbie here. I have read through all the posts on WP. Can anybody help with step by step instructions for WP replacement (preemptive maintenance). Note, this will be my first "major" undertaking on the 2.5 ATX 96. Previously, only touched "moosing" ducts. (everything else done by dealer or indie according to schedule or more). The WP is too important and critical to send to dealer (and not too sure if indie is up to snuff for this). 79K miles now (bought new at 55 miles). Temp at N and O. Do I need to jack up the car or would ramps be good enough or would I be able to access from top? One post mentioned removing the battery for more access. I have seen the post on "weird sound, and it's not the dying water pump" and it looks pretty tight from the top. I would like to keep the car for at least another 40k miles (My two previous used cars had 181k miles before I switch to this "brand new" Contour. I used to drive 20k per year before I got the Contour).

30 minutes, TOPS, even for a first timer.
The Duratec Maintenance forum (below) has a "FAQ" thread with all the how-to's listed there, as well.

Thanks Bobbyd and Ray. I will post my experience and time (I suspect it will be more than 30 minutes) when I attempt it in a few weeks (or sooner should the needle start to go to A or L) after I get the parts ordered.

if you tacked on another 20 minutes for two or three beers, you could be right..
