I got a Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD headunit... now the only place that will install it witha e-brake bypass switch is charging $125
Second issue...i got a factory amp bypass harness...they want to bypass the factory amp, run new speaker wires to each door straight from the headunit for $120.
How do these prices sound to those familar with car audio? Should I go for it?
(all prices in U.S. $)
No other place near by will do do both of these things together.
Thanks

If that model is like the one I have (AVH-P6500DVD) just use that green wire to tap into the ground wire.

so they want to power the doors off the hu and run new wiring for this? thats insane. the doors are already wired. use the amp bypass and then run the bypass to the hu's speaker leads. unless u want to power the doors off a real amp, dont bother running new wiring just for hu amping.
i've never done a flipout install but i think the ebrake wiring can just be wired to ground and then u can use the monitor anytime (even when driving, yeah yeah its illegal)
oh, and r those prices in canadian?

yeah they were 'advising' me to run new wiring to the doors....
for the 5700, its different than 6500....it detects if you have simply grounded the e-brake connection. On this model, u need to engage, release, then re-engage the e-brake for video mode to work.....thats why you need a toggle switch installed somewhere to bypass it.
thanks for the replies
much appreciated!

even if you do decide to go with the toggle switch, it's soooo much cheaper to do it yourself. $5 from a hardware store and about an hour of time.

I got just the Pioneer deck installed for the time being, nice little bypass swtich hidden away too.
Quick question, the audio shop seems to mixed up the Front & Rear fade signals and Left and Right balance. (i.e. i set fad/bal to Front Left, and all sound will come from Back Right speaker).
Is this a big deal? Any sound quality issue? or any issue what so ever?
Install place was kind of far, dont wanna go back unless for major problems.
Thanks

That is not anything to lose sleep over, but just makes you wonder if they messed anything else up or how well they actually do their work. I would go back and complain, but then again I do all my own work so I know it's right.
