All the power was completely lost, headlights, windows, power steering, radio. Then about five minutes after it died, the power flickered back on for about 15 seconds, enough time to roll up my windows. Now when i turn the key, the dash lights up, but its as dim as could be and it doesnt crank at all. Any ideas? cause i'm stumped. is the capacitor plugged in backwards or something? is that possible?

Holy hell, at least tell the same story in both thread, you cross poster you..... Cap can not be connect backwards, it would be bad instantly if you did. Sounds like you have a loose connection as the power flickred off, then came back on, check your battery terminals for tight connections

How exactly did you hook up your cap? Did you hook it up to the battery, or very close to the amp? Have you already figured it out yet? I have mine hooked up 6in from a power distribution block, then have about 6in to the amp 12in total from cap to the amp, it is the same for both positive and negative.

distance play no significant part in installation. Hell ill put mine under the hood i don't care! and you will see the same effects as if it where in the trunk....

But i think ill keep my cap where it is. In my Extra office unused cause they are pretty much worthless, Unless its a knukoncepts kap!

I think the cap on that guys is somehow hooked up wrong and thats whats causing the drain, who knows the cap its self could be bad too.
I was just making another point to mount it as close as possible the amp. I did a quick search online and found this.
"For maximum benefit, you should keep the length of wire between the capacitor and the amplifier to a minimum. Anything (wire, distribution blocks, fuses...) between the capacitor and the amplifier will reduce the capacitor's ability to quickly supply the current needed by the amplifier. Of course, if you have multiple amplifiers and want the capacitor to benefit all of them, you'll have to connect it to the distribution block."
All about caps worth the read

In my case I have two amps one for the subs and one for the surround. I have no intention of making anyone mad just putting my two sence in, and since no one asked the guy in in two pages of posts how he hooked his up I thought I would.
